Student Loans to Disappear in Economic Downturn?
QUINCY, MA–(Marketwire – February 4, 2008) – Despite a turbulent economy and a rash of bad news from some high profile student loan companies, not all student loan companies are leaving students behind to fend for themselves against rising tuition. Headlines over the past few weeks have focused on some lenders announcing that they would no longer offer student loans, but Quincy-based Student Loan Network (an Edvisors company) is not one of them. This month, the metro-Boston education services company celebrates its tenth anniversary with even more commitments to students in the forms of scholarships, free eBooks, and other resources.
“If everyday items increased in price like college tuition, a $2.63 gallon of milk ten years ago when we were founded would be nearly $6 today. We can’t abandon our students and community in the face of that kind of price pressure just because the economy slows down temporarily,” said Joe Cronin, president of Student Loan Network. “We’re proud to reinforce our commitment to students, families, and financial aid professionals with our unique set of free resources at www.StudentLoanNetwork.com/resources. And we look forward to another ten years — and more — of service to our community.”
The Student Loan Network and its parent company, Edvisors, will also be donating ten percent of its profits to the Edvisors Foundation Education Charity. “Another way for us to give back to students and the education community is to share our profits with worthy education causes,” said Cronin. The Edvisors Foundation is a certified 501 (3) tax exempt foundation that supports local and national educational charities in their efforts to expand access to education opportunities and programming at all levels.
The Student Loan Network, an Edvisors company, is one of the nation’s fastest growing providers of student loans and related information. Since 1998 we have connected 25 million students and parents with over $1 billion in scholarships, grants and federal, private and consolidation loan funding. To help make the confusing and stressful financial aid process easier, the Student Loan Network also delivers helpful information, including the award-winning Financial Aid Podcast, a multitude of financial aid-related blogs and the monthly Financial Aid Newsletter.
