Nearly two-thirds of all four-year college students graduate with student loan debt. This number is completely understandable given the state of the economy and rising costs of higher education. The scary part is that many students go into college not knowing how many loans they have, who owns their loans and how much they will have to pay back after graduation.

For those of you who graduated from college in May the time to start paying back your federal student loans is right around the corner. This can be a confusing time and I am sure you are probably wondering what the best way to pay back your loans is. Who do I send the checks to? Should I consolidate my loans? Do I have to start paying right now? It is important to know that there is no one “right” repayment method. At this point you and your fellow graduates are probably in very different financial situations. Your best friend’s repayment plan might be the wrong plan for you.
